leather seat recovering?

the buckskin seats on my p6 are past their best...faded and cracked around the top of the fronts..just wondering if anyone has experiance of having them recovered...have had a quote of £300 to do the lot or would be cheaper in vinyl....also have a set of cloth seats from my spares car...would it be better selling the leather ones on ebay and having the cloth ones covered in leather instead??

£300 to do the lot sounds a pretty good deal but I would want to check on the quality and reputation of the people doing the work first...

If it's only fading and cracking rather than tears you may be able to recondition the existing leather. There are several products all of which are a bit labour intensive but they do offer the advantage of preserving the original material. Hi I have just recovered my wifes 2000 with gliptones liquid leather and I must say it looks fantastic. I have no idea of how good it remains over a long time but at the moment it's great the cost is around £100, but it was done for me by a jag owner (mk2) and upholsterer and I paid £170 all in. What I would say is that it is most likely that after having the seats done you will at least want the "D"pillar and the rear parcel shelf done, maybe not the door cards as they don't get as much of the sun.

just been on gliptones web site and its about £6/7 for either the cleaner or the restorer....how many bottles did they go through to cost £100! blimey! :shock:

think a couple of bottles of each are worth a punt so will see how it goes
 
I have just checked the price , and it was £68.85 for a complete kit , but a second kit had to be ordered to do the door cards and the knee bins. I decided not to do the door cards or bins for the reason in the the 1st message , I thought that the work that the upholsterer had done was worth the extra money I gave.
