leaky windscreen - how to stop water coming onto the dash

Hello!

Pooring water onto the roof in persuit of the leak fouling my carpets etc.,
I observed water running onto the dash board along the inside of
the pillar holding the roof up.
Can this be remedied by:
-- resetting the windscreen?
-- replacing all the rubber between the glas and the shell?
-- pushing the glas further home by the 2 supporting bolts?
-- squeezing mastic into the roof gutter?
-- sell and move on?

What else may help? And where might the water actually find ist way
into the cabin? Through a rust hole in the pillar?

Who can do the repair in under one hour?
Bonnet off, front valence off, window out, chrome bit rivet drilled out,
chrome removed, rubber removed, shell repaired, bits assembled in
reverse order with due care that rubber covers everything it should cover
and no gaps for water leaks.

Out here in the sticks?
Thanks,
Bandito. ???

Under an hour ? Must be a job for Harvey P6!
Mine leaks when I'm doing about 60 mph in heavy rain and the rain drips on my right knee, I think I'll start with a new screen rubber , the old one looks fossilised

Hi Bandito,

From experience it's likely to be getting in through a rust hole around one of the 3 rivet points at the back (door shut) of the screen pillar.

As you suggest, the trim has to come off but you might be able to get away with not much more.

Interestingly, I don't think the rubber does much sealing apart from the actual screen edge; a lack of screen sealer here will give leaks at speed because water is forced round the glass edge. As long as the rubber seats correctly in the frame (particularly at the bottom of the pillars) you should be OK.

I don't think a perished rubber, such as cracking where it touches the top corners of the trim, is a problem. The water's course appears to be down the inside of the trim at the back of the pillars (hence the holes). :(

Regards,
Phil.
