Laser Levels - so useful

With christmas money I like to splash out on something I'd not normally buy. So I bought a laser level.

I''ve just put the Rover up on axle stands and used the laser to level the car flat as per the Haynes. The laser level is used to provide a datum to measure from or to. Easy to provide a datum from the front to the back of the car.

Here some photos:
Picking up the rear suspension hieght datum bolt. It's the bolt to the left of the photo.

Now it's so easy to measure the vertical hieght to the hub centre. Something that before required three hands and a bit of 'eyeing up'

I then picked up the hub centre on both sides of the car and put a line on the garage floor under the centre of the axle. Why I want this? Well that's another story see the Projects Threads.
Gav.
P.S. The packaging comes with diagrams for hanging pictures and curtains, do they need to be that vertical?

A less expensive and equally useful method is a water level. Which is a posh name for a long length of clear plastic tube (eg screenwasher pipe) filled with water. If you can't figure out how that helps, you shouldn't be attempting the task!

It's all very well using a laser level to get your curtains and pictures level but then it shows up that the room isn't square !

our laser level for the corner scales at work come with a set of groovy red glasses that improve your vision, they also make you look well gangsta!

I bought a Bosch laser level a couple of years ago when I was putting a new kitchen in. Half-price at Homebase and it was a godsend lining up the tops of the cabinets around the room.

Haven't used it for hanging any pictures though!
