Intermittent oil pressure gauge....

Hi All,
Recently had to pull the instrument cluster forward to access the speedo angle drive. Since putting it back the Oil Pressure Gauge only works intermittently. If it is a cooler morning then it doesn't work, if it's a warm day then it appears to work. Have double checked the wires at the rear of the gauge and all appears OK.
Any suggestions from the floor???

Hello RT,

It could be coincidence. What type of oil pressure transmitter are you using? Is it the original Smiths sender or is it a later BMI offering? The latter can be easily identified by the black cylindrical top.

Hey Ron,
As far as I can tell it appears to be the original Smiths sender.

Hello RT,

Well it could be the sender but given you had the instruments out just before then maybe that is too much hope. You could give the contact on the sender a clean with some emery paper and see if that helps,...but apart from that it sounds as if you may have damaged your gauge in some way. Some of the wires from memory looks just like strands of hair, so it won't take much to cause damage.
