CR should be next to the engine number, which is behind the head on the n/s shoulder for older suffix "A" rope seal engines, (which for the UK at least are all 10.5:1) and on the top of the block face on the n/s of the engine where the dipstick tube goes in for the later (9.35:1) lipseal ones.
It can really only be a guide as the engines are so old now that many have been reassembled with parts from other engines.
