Hi everyone,
Finally got around to joining!
My dad had a nice blue P6 3.5s - N-reg which was his everyday car until he got a company car way back in 1992. He kept the car in the garage since then so that he could get it back on the road when he retired 2 years ago. Unfortunately, within a few months of retirement he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and died 18 months later.
With my Mum wanting to move to a smaller place a major sort out has been instigated, and having spent an age going through two big garages and a shed, I have finally been able to get to the Rover which looks remarkably good considering it has been sat for 15 years doing nothing apart from having stuff all around and on top of it!
Now I am no mechanic, but would love to get this car going again as my dad would have wanted, and will hopefully have some inspired people on here who are able to nudge me in the right direction every now and then. I have a haynes manual and more tools than you can shake a stick at, as my dad had at least one of everything you would ever need!
I guess the first thing is trying to get it started. Does anyone know of a basic guide I can download or buy which will advise me of how best to get the engine running again. I guess some things may be seized up potentially?
I doubt that connecting a battery and putting in some petrol will suffice??!!
Any pointers gratefully received.
Cheers,
Dave,.
