i am currently a new owner of an Almod 1971 3500 with cream leather interior, reg TPU 449K

this is the first time i have ever owned a p6 so not sure what to expect lol

Expect a lot of strangers coming up to you for a chat. :)

Expect to get your hands dirty, but then this goes for every classic. I think for the original target market of the car the P6 is easy to look after. Normally luxury classic cars tend to be rather awkward in places.

Expect to have a grin the size of the Watford gap. :) I have my radio tuned to Gold, 70's music in a 70's car is very cool. 8)

Hi welcome ive been into p6 s since september 2008 and im enjoying every minute with my car and im sure you will enjoy yours to, specially when you see one coming towards you and the driver waving like mad with a big grin on his face,And now ive got a great friend from it we spend hours together ,under them, over them and in them . ive also made some realy good mates were building a strong group in north lincs and we swop parts and help fix each others then go for a pint great fun, so enjoy

Welcome! I've owned a couple since student days in 1997 and can't really shake the attraction. The girls like them - "Ooh, it's cute!", and "Wow, you really have style!" (someone actually said this) - unbridled enthusiasm notwithstanding, it has lines that are attractive, classic, sleek, and a bit mean 8) Having also owned a VW beetle I am grateful for the ease of access to most aspects of the P6 that need tinkering (bar the rear brakes, as you'll discover).

I installed some decent bass speakers and have this thing about playing Barry White loud and with the windows down on sunny days. Are you with me, richarduk?

You smooth devil - I bet you are fighting the women off !

In terms of your car's early history there are two formal sources only. First is the DVLA who will give you a print of what they have in the way of owners history. Then there is Gaydon who hold the manufacturer's archive for Rover. A certificate is a good idea but doesn't come free. It will tell you the build date, when it was shipped from the factory and original colours etc. http://archive.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/exhibitions_heritage_certificates.html

After that you're really down to trying to trace previous owners from the DVLA records.
