Heater Box seals

I checked in garage. The adhesive I used was locktite 660, meant for bearings I believe. Very strong stuff, but only solidifies in absence of oxygen, so excess can be wiped off next day, leaves a bond where splines used to be. Worked well in this case.

Could possibly use that on the rubber inner door and wing weather strips that fit on the aluminium strips. Easier than trying to recreate the metal staples that want to go through your finger

Yes I successfully managed to drill through part of a finger last night while drilling out some rivets.

@jp - have the whole engine out and bonnet off so hopefully refitting is pretty straightforward.

Has anyone fitted valves or a heater matrix bypass in the coolant lines? Not having hot coolant near the cabin in a hot Aussie summer would be great.

If anyone in Australia wants the seal that sits on the firewall, flick me a message. About to order one and a power steering filter from Famous Four (cheers for the heads up @jp928) - may as well order some more and save on postage if anyone else is after one.

Hope you get cheaper postage than they quoted me. I made one out of something handy in the end. I also found adhesive backed foam in a roll at Bunnings...

The innate scrooge in me balks whenever the postage swamps the product, except for MUST have items. Dont plan to rip the heater out again in this lifetime, else I would take you up on the offer. One source advised that Royal Mail would not take parcels over 2kg! US postage is not much better.

I glued together bits of hollow D section soft rubber extrusion using a quality supper glue. Worked a treat.

I have a box here with some seals in it from Famous Four but have had a few other things on the go and got told that my heater matrix/core is beyond repair.

Does anyone know the correct heater core to buy for NZ cars with aircon? I have another core on my workbench but am at the stage now where I'm passed running around trying to fix parts that are worn out.

Has anyone pulled the heater box out of a P6 with factory A/c ?
There's a bit more plumbing coming out of the heaterbox.
Im interested in the process as my heater has lost its magic over the years and suspect the seal.

The AC version of the heater core is listed as 606616, listed by MGBD as coming soon, GBP130. Surprised you cant find anybody to repair or copy the core. I did a search on the soft copy of the parts book, and its listed in the AC section. Duh! no picture.

I've had a radiator built with a new core and some bits from my OG radiator and a spare I had.

The heater matrix though was just a goner though, which explains why the inside of my heater box has rusty areas. Apparently it's hard to rebuild one.

My car doesn't have the AC part inside the heater box, so I think I need to order a non AC car heater matrix. Will check things later via eyeballs.
