Hi all, I'm a newbie here, nice to have found you! I've got a 1972 2000TC with a very ??? streached handbrake cable. Any ideas where to get one? Any help would be appreciated.
When you install it, don't set it too tight to start with or it won't allow enough movement for the calipers to adjust properly. The arms need to be free to move through the full swing so that the footbrake can alsomove the adjusters.
The brakes actually adjust up better on the footbrake anyhow. 50 miles or so should see only 3 or 4 clicks at most required on the handbrake.
my advise to you is to forget about the number of clicks on the handbrake lever, just ensure that when the handbrake is fully off the cam levers on the brake calipers are fully returned to the stops. this will let the calipers to adjust themselfs up properly
