Gearbox spewing oil

Hello everyone

This is a question that actually relates to a P5B but as I am desperate for a solution I thought I try the P6 forum too. I also do not know whether P6s ever had Borg Warner BW35 'boxes or not. However, before I am going to give it to a gearbox specialist I am hoping for any hint or clever idea you technical wizards out there might have.

A few weeks ago, on a trip to Cumbria our gearbox started to spew out its oil via the filler tube. That even caused a small fire. At first I thought the reason might have been about 40 or 50ml of brake fluid that could have accidentially been poured into the gearbox. We, therefore, had it flushed and refilled and, at the same time, the cooling circle checked. The latter was apparently working fine and it is full of nice, fresh oil. But, as you might have guessed, it is still getting rid of its oily contents (when it is hot and after the car has been driven for 10 miles +) via the filler tube.

Has this ever happened to anyone of you or would you know what might cause this problem?

Thanks in advance

Yes they have 35's, yes this happend to me - but it came out the breather tube - it only done it once, looking in my factory manual there is a service modification for this which involves modifying the location of the breather tube on the dipstick I think. Perhaps you should check all the breathers are clear, not sure what they look like on a P5B, black plastic tube on the P6.
