electric fuel pump placement?

can anyone help lots of qs to follow!

ive bought a facet pump to fit to my 3500s to (hopefully) cure a long standing high rev misfire / apparent fuel related problem. in the absence of anyone knowing where to buy a repair kit for my mechanical fuel pump, and also because it might not be just the diaphragm ive sought the path of least resistance and am going for what seems to be a fairly popular modification and foing for an electric fuel pump.
id like the engine bay to appear stock if possible has anyone any proven practical locales for the pump out of eyesight?
also, can i just fit the pump and leave the existing mech pump in place? do i need to remove any part of it of will the increase in pressure simply make its way through and to my hungry hungry carbs?
lastly, any easy places to take power from? I have recently moved and only have a basic garage with no multimeter - any tips on this would be great!
I know this has been covered before a few times but I am one of those people that sometimes cant picture things unless they are spelled out! (or is that spelt out?) im not sure, but either way, please do share your knowledge, id really appreciate it!

North American cars had a Bendix electric fuel pump mounted near the rear - this would require you to reroute some of the fuel tank piping and will need the reserve tap reworking as well if you want to preserve that feature (to be honest I'm not that sure it's essential to have this as I do watch the fuel gauge from time to time).

Depending o whether you have accessories such as PAS or A/C you might find the front of the engine bay easier - it's not going to be invisiable but the pipe work needed is going to be a lot less complicated then relocating reserve taps and fule lines under the car

Does the Club still sell fuel pump repair kits ?Any still in stock ?

I think I'd remove the old pump , fit a blanking plate, mount the pump on the NS inner wing and take a live feed from the washer motor. It's been said before to fit an inertia switch in the wiring so if you crash the pump stops emptying the tank onto the road

My '73 came with a Facet silver top pump mounted in the front of the engine bay. Not very happy with it as it has always ticked loudly, audible from outside the car, but it performs fine even though it is a 'pull' pump and is lifting the petrol higher than the tank outlet. The mechanical pump is removed and a simple blanking plate fitted to cover the hole, Real Steel supply them. I'm going to fit a 'push' electric pump under the rear seat crossmember beneath the car (when my resto project gets that far...)
