Dunlop front discs - anyone have any?

Dunlop brake discs required, mine has just failed MOT for 'excess pitting' . I don't think the examiner was particularly sympathetic as they are no more pitted than on previous years. Anyone know where I might get some? The usual stockists seem sold out.

I guess I could always give them a light skim and try again?

I've seen them turn up on ebay. If not have them skimmed provided the don't go down below the minimum thickness. I seem to remember the Dunlop front discs fracturing around the inner edge of the disc.

Hi

I needed new front discs about 2 years ago and I thought that I was going to have to have some specially made.

But, J R Wadhams had a single disc about 2 years ago & so did Ray Weekley (don't know if Ian Wilson now has this) and you could try RP Spares in London (where I got mine from) - they have stuff that no one else has & at reasonable prices.

Rear discs seemed to be fairly plentiful at the time I needed these, so cannot imagine that they would have sold out.

Good luck with the search.

Gary, thanks for that. I believe Wadhams and Ian put theirs together to make a pair. Steve Walker gave me the number for RPS though and I have left them a message. Fingers crossed!

Try past parts.

They are worth a phone call. number is in the book or online they are based in bury st edmunds.

Sounds daft but get yourself down to your local motor factors, Partco, Andrew Page etc, look in the yellow pages or on Yell.com, get them to have a look int their "big books", although they won't have them in stock they may be able to order them in.

I don't find a minimum thickness listed in my Rover "Bible". One of my rear disks surely must be at minimum, compared to the other side.Anyone know how thin is too thin??

I've only got figures for the Girling system, which has a maximum allowable wear of 0.050" (50 thou.) front & rear,so subtract that from the figures in the book to give a minimum thickness. (I would think it's a reasonable guide for the Dunlop system)

They are listed on Wadhams site

"Brake discs Front brake discs: 2000 (Dunlop) - POA "

Not listed on ians site yet www.rover-classics.co.uk - However I know that he has a massive stock of items and is in the process of placing them on his site. So strongly advise you contact him as well (ianp6man on this forum)

Thanks for that Ian was my first call.

Wadhams have none, however Steve Walker kindly put me on to RPS in London who have them in stock 0208 6969645 if anyone wants some.
