Different fuel Pumps - different sized valves.

I just had reason to renew all the seals on the mechanicle pump. The Standard kit I bought had all the gaskets I needed, but the the valve sizes were way out (fortunatly I did'nt need them). The valves in the Kit including the metal surround are about as big as the diaphram on the valves fitted to my pump, ie no way would they have fitted ! I thought large and small vaves could be swapped between pumps ?
Is there more than one model of pump ? Mine is a AC Delco and also has "P" cast into the body.
One day I will need new valves so I ought to find out what I have got now. Anybody had the same experience ?

I got mine from Ray Weekly, some dealers did not have any in stock, but Ray did (about a month ago).
Unleaded, especially Super plays havoc with older seals apperantly. Mine certainly started soon after switching over to Super Unleaded (and don't try to syphon it, its disgusting and bad for your health!)
