Compression Test - PSI

I would be grateful if someone could tell me the average psi or bar on a compression test for a 74 high compression (10.2 to 1 I think)
Thanks
Robert

It would be nice to get a reading of about 180psi per cyl with a max variation of about 10psi. In practice with a worn engine reasonably even readings over 150 are OK. Much lower than this or one or several cylinders with much lower readings indicate problems. If you're not sure, do the test and post the readings.
Early engines are 10.5:1 cr, later ones are lower.

Thanks for that. I am surmising that it is a 10.5 engine, but I can not find the engine number anywhere ( i have looked at all the designated places!
The engine is fitted with 2x HS6 su's and not hif's with a rear rather than center manifold. My car is 1976, but BL would not suply Costello with engines at that time so costello often bought them in from Belgium. Are there any visual details that would help an expert date it for me
