Hi all,

Does anybody know or has anybody dealt with Iceni Classic Spares on e-bay? I've ordered a part and sent an e-mail but have had no response as yet and I'm real desperate for the parts, I know it's holiday time but the P6 is my only car and we're stuck in the essex outback. Is nfkboy on this forum or do you know him? any help would be very appreciated, hope you all had a merry christmas,
Cheers

Sorry Jon can't help

Although as a registered Business Seller on eBay he SHOULD have both a physical address and phone number available.

I can find neither either on auctions, shop pages or 'My World' pages.

Thanks Oracle,
I'm a newbie on Ebay and the interwebnet so that's very useful advice for the future for me, hopefully something will turn up info wise.
Thanks again.

Hi Jon.
When did you buy and pay for the item?
What was it?
The recent weather could have been the cause of delays, and I know some areas were without power for a while!
He does state "Estimated delivery within 4-5 business days !"
if you allow for crap weather and xmas,it hopefully will arrive t/w/t next week!
If you are desperate I may have what you need s/h to get you out of trouble till the new one arrives! Let me know!
Dave

Hi Pilkie,
Thanks for the reply. It was a brake master cylinder repair kit I ordered and I E-mailed the seller asking if I could pick it up in person as he's in norfolk and I'm in north essex. I've not paid for it yet as I was offering cash if I were to pick it up. The P6 is our only car but I've still got my motorbike so I could've got up there fairly sharpish now the snow has melted. It's not that I'm upset with the "service" as such, it's just I don't want to mess the guy around because I need the parts quick so I'll get them from whoever get's in first, but because I'm out of work I can't go throwing money around and doubling up on parts. The better half has lost a week of work already because of the servo packing up which I have now repaired. As I say I'm a newbie in all things Ebay so it's my own fault for buying before I got a reply but I guess this is the lesson.
I've managed to pick up a few old master cylinders hence the delay in my reply (70 mile trip to get them)so hopefully I can cobble something together out of what I now have. Thanks for the offer of S/H bits I may still take you up on that if these master cylinders don't work if that's something you have spare.
Also thanks for looking into this for me, I will have more of a look at ebay and try to learn more as it seems a gold mine of Rover bit's that I can't afford  but window shopping never hurt anyone.
I was hoping/wondering that someone on here may have known or had details for this nfkboy so I could've contacted him the old fashioned way (phone)and arranged everything so as not to mess him around and I got my bits. Hopefully I'll have some brakes either way soon. Once again thanks to all you've been very helpful.
Cheers, Jon.

You will find that some ebay sellers will not do a cash deal off ebay, and they will not respond to emails about doing it either!!
They will only deal with legit ebay questions or if an item has make an offer.
I do ask ebay sellers about doing deals as it doesnt hurt to try, especially if they are not aware of values of items, but often I get no response at all.
So if I havent heard anything within 3 days,I forget it,and may have a punt towards the end of the listing!
You should be able to get that from a good local motorfactors,as I believe its a std BL item!!
Am sure a person I know on the forum can cross ref it to another easier to obtain vehicle application, hopefully they will PM you!
If Jim Brown is still operating, maybe he can assist?? I am sure he is still up your way somewhere?!!
AH!! This is him!!

I only have the one spare that I have rebuilt, and need that for my daily driver just incase!

Hi Oracle and Pilkie,
I've e-mailed Ian at Rover classics but will try and phone him tomorrow, he supplied my servo rebuild kit recently. I'll try Ely service again, I do use them from time to time as it's not too far from me. I'll keep my ear to the ground as far as nfkboy is concerned but what you say about not dealing outside of ebay is completely reasonable, so we'll see what happens. like I said before I just don't want to mess anyone around. nevertheless I shall keep trawling ebay and see what it turns up.
Once again I thank you for all the help you've given me, incidentally I'm in the very early stages of compiling a service item crossover list, I'm sure it's been done but you never know something new may turn up from it. Will post it when it's more complete.
Thanks all,
Jon.

Success!
nfkboy has e-mailed me, thanks again for all your help. As I say I'm a newbie in all this computer stuff, I'm more Fred Dibnah than Bill Gates y'know. now all I got to do is suss out this paypal thing, it seems straight forward enough but it keeps saying a error has occurred. that error is probably me. I'll keep trying.
Thanks chaps!

If you have recently opened an account with ppal, you will need to add funds or a credit/debit card no to your details, also they may wait a few days to authenticate info before you can use it.
They normally transfer a very small amount to your bank "5p" then you respond to authenticate it and it activates it,but due to hols this may be delayed.
If you are not going via Ebay purchase and ppal, but direct to him via ppal you will need to select send money, add his email address, enter amount, select other goods,"not Ebay!!",make sure your address for despatch is correct then send.
Or ask him to send a ppal request for payment!
Got there in the end! nearly!!

It's official, I can do I.T. Ok it's just a paypal payment but even Bill Gates had to start somewhere!!! The problem was with my browser, I'm using Google chrome and there's a bit of a conflict between Ebay and Paypal, but with a phone call to the very attractive sounding Belfast accented woman we're all set. I just hope nfkboy is patient dealing with newbies.
Cobbled together some brakes from the three master cylinders I picked up and I will do the bleeding tomorrow (probably from my knuckles mostly  ) I'm working outside and that darned sun keeps disappearing just when I need it most. I should get the seal kit some time next week so I'll build one of the spare cylinders up with that and swap with my lash up on a free day(and when my knuckles have healed).
Have a happy new year chaps, tune in same bat time same bat channel next week for more brake related shenanigans,
Cheers,
Jon.

I always tell people the slowest part of my computer is me ! Or that I wasn't millenium compliant

How do we log on to this forum after 1/1/2010 ? New address ?

That's a good question, I'm sure the web chief/guvnor/gaffer will send out a mail or some other technical notification method that I'm not aware of. Webmaster. That was the term I was looking for.

Don't worry guys, I do have a new address as Dave pointed out, but also the old address will work for the time being. I'll also be sending out a mailer.
