Boot adjustment - boot height adjustment

Hi when my boot is fully open on my 67 2000 it does,nt open anywhere near as high as on series 2 cars I,ve owned in the past.Does anyone know if this is the norm for series one cars,or is there any way I can adjust the opening height?I am going to fit a new boot seal shortly and wonder when I remove the boot if I could bend the hinges back a touch? or would this be too risky. cheers dion.

I,ve fitted the new boot seal and resisted the urge to alter the hinges but the boot wont close,I,ve fitted it the right way round and cant understand why it wont close it gets about three quarters down then gets tight,if you put your weight on it,it will go down but wont click shut anyone experience this? thanks dion.
