Hello everyone, I'm Simon from Southsea in Portsmouth, Hampshire, 28 years of age, and I'm the owner of a 1973 Rover P6 3500S (4-speed manual), which I have had since April.

This was a cheap, impulsive, Ebay purchase, and is not in perfect condition by any means, but is very usable and drives just fine. I have just had the gearbox rebuilt by your very own 'harveyp6', who has been very helpful and provided me with much useful advice and information, as well as helping me out with the gearbox for which I am very grateful.

As well have having the gearbox rebuilt I have also had a replacement clutch fitted, I have fitted a CD stereo, and plan on some other minor cosmetic improvements such as painting the rear panel, as well as replacing any damaged or broken components.

It won't be fully restored as besides not having the money or expertise I just want to keep it tidy enough and roadworthy enough for regular use so I can enjoy the car without it being a show queen that I'm frightened to drive around or park on my busy urban street.

It's a lovely car to drive, and I'm happy with it.... Although if I knew then what I do now I would have bought an automatic.

Gearbox on mine is the next big job that needs sorting on my car and you're very lucky to have had harvey's assistance. Did you actually meet him? Maybe you can get a picture of him next time :D. He's been very helpful with all sorts of gearbox issues across the whole range of models.

Anyway, enjoy your car

No pictures allowed!

(He didn't really see me, I'm virtual on here, and a hologram in the real world! He has, of course, been sworn to secrecy.)

Nice looking car, welcome :)
I've met Harvey, he wore a crash helmet like the Stig

I reckon harvey is the front end interface of a massive data bank with every known p6 question and answer

The photos are flattering... there are also some tiny holes on the rear wings where they meet the D-pillars, and the D-posts inside the rear doors where they meet the sills are pretty corroded. The paint is also tatty in places, but overall it's not too bad.

I will get some interior pics up in due course..

Hello Simon,

Nice looking lunar grey 3500S that you have there.

It is a good learning experience owning a Rover, so enjoy the experience. :D

Ron.
