Evening all Newbie into P6 ownership for the first time with a couple of questions I have tried looking around the internet with no such luck however more often than not many search results brought me back to this forum so here I am. Here is hoping I have put this in the correct section of the forum.
Now long story short I have purchased myself a running project to get myself into historic /classic vehicle ownership and hopefully something to get regular use out of.
No doubt the first of many questions I have is that the alternator (Lucas 11AC apparently) has seen better days and also doesn't want to charge etc. So in my very limited knowledge of vehicle electrics I decided to go down the route of an 65 amp internally regulated "uprated" item, however once I purchased it I was informed that this will require wiring in to suit, so then I purchased a plug to suit the 3 spades on the back with a length of wire to continue on with to wire into the car. Now looking for some guidance on how to go about this and what to take out and add too etc, as said I have very limited knowledge in this field and the only instructions I received with the Alternator were "Larger spades to the battery and the smaller spade the dash charge/ Battery lamp" although I think I have tried this I don't seem to have much luck in the new alternator actually working.
Can any of you offer any help at all? Photos, links or a guide in what I should actually be doing?
