2200 auto in Colchester

Folks
I've been out to see this car today, it's a one owner early 1974 2200 auto in Almond with Ebony cloth interior. It hasn't turned a wheel in 15 years.

The original owner has passed away and the family wish to sell it as it's in the garage of the house. I've had a look, at least as good a look as I could where it's standing, and IMHO it's hovering between life and death.

I'm putting it up on the Forum to see if anyone would like to take it on as an ongoing project. The family are looking for at least £300 for it and would like it saved if possible.

Good bits:

Engine appears free, paintwork pretty good, interior reasonably tidy with a bit of mould, handbrake works. Lots of original paperwork including bill of sale and Passport To Service. Some MOT's. Mileage is about 85k (speedo has been replaced).

Bad bits:

Brake master is stuck solid, brake fluid has got loose under the bonnet so it's a bit ugly there, the underside is quite crusty, the offside 'D' post is gone, as are the rear doors. The suspension mount in the boot has been agriculturally repaired and has gone again. Tyres ancient and flat. Bumpers very dented. I suspect with a battery and some fresh fuel the engine would fire up.

If someone is looking for a project it's one worth bearing in mind.

I read a little note with the car about the inhibitor switch being faulty on the car when new and it going back to the dealership for a new one to be fitted - apparently there was a rogue batch at this point. You've probably laid spanners on this car at some point then!

Quite possibly. Not for about 30 odd years though, as I don't remember it being one of the ones I did after I left. It could be, you can't remember them all.
