I must sort that number plate plinth tomorrow and swap the front seats back in the hope they function as they should.

I'm not sure about the webesto either but its there and seems in good condition. No I haven't opened it yet :shock:

It's not a late series 1 at all, it's a series 2. The guy who did the work confirmed it in the thread you were posting in on the 17th.

It's just had a series 1 bonnet and grille fitted.

Let's just clear this up going forward.

I will look tomorrow. I did notice some fuses and cover rattling in the N/S glove box. But I will look.

Here's an image of YNJ 392J I found on the web pre 2007. Series 1?

Door handles and heated screen suggest early S2,hint of vinyl 1/4 panels as well!
Date of DVLA registration is 22/2/71.
The year of manufacture is 1971.
Last registered S1's were sept/oct 1970 iirc!

Well with known production dates of Series 1's YNJ 392J must be a Series 2. There is a fusebox in the N/S Glove box area. I've posted the mentioned images.
Could you please tell me the significance of the square filled in cutout on the back of the boot floor?

The seats swapped back fairly easily. (But I did wonder if I was about to discover a problem) What a difference to get in and out of the car :p
The number plate plynth is up the right way too. However I will have to invest in some new bolts.

Some did, but I believe they were special order.
 
Undoubtedly there were factory prototypes running power steering - not least, at least one of the pilot build of 2000S - and similarly there must have been some 3500's so equipped as trials for first the 3500S NADA (from '68) and then the series 2. The only series ones actually equipped as a line option I believe were the NADA's - and then they are all left hand drive so the equipment isn't transferable to a right hooker. I think it is extremely unlikely that anyone outside the Royal family managed to get a special order built.

Verifying this is a tad tricky, as the build records don't go down into this sort of detail. Plus many many cars have been retrofitted using scrapped S2 parts in the case of V8's and various semi standard conversions using V8 steering boxes on 4 cyl cars.
