I slowly decreased the pressure, (winding the outer cable towards the carb)
Gear changes slowly got better and better
I am now almost as far in as it can go, how do I know I have gone too far?
On light throttle, all changes are super smooth, almost impossible to tell when it changes...

I got my vehicle back three days ago, I was shown the broken parts - 5 teeth had broken off on the main planet gear, He does not know why
The kick-down cable had also been re-fitted using the new bracket I had made
Drove 20 km home, gear changes were smooth, kick down worked
Changed gears...
Thanks
From the beginning
I drove in sand in low-range with the dogs, all was well, came home and parked it
Next day, started the car, idled for about 30 seconds and put it into reverse, fairly loud (unusual) clunk into gear. but car would not move
Put it in drive and it moved forward about 500...
Just heard from the gearbox shop, my planetary gears are stripped.
Oil is not burnt, all bearings are intact, no signs of overheating or slipping on the bands.
He asked if I tried to tow something very heavy.
I drove about three kilometers in sand, in low-range, at about 20 km/h with the dogs...
They came to look, fiddled around for about 15 minutes, undid some linkages, no luck.
The lock diff lever is also quite stiff, won't go into low range
I did about a kilometer in the sand in low range on Saturday, no problem
He put it in reverse and revved to about 1200, the car made a loud clang...
re Pilkie - I can push the car forwards but not backwards, in 1 2 D N AND R, they are coming to fetch it, no argument there, was curious as to WHAT caused it?
re Harveyp6 - Maybe I was not clear enough, they told me I can drive it 12km home without the kick down cable, so that I can fix the...
Good Morning all
I recently had my BW65 rebuilt, after weeks of looking for parts
The bracket holding the kick-down cable was a home made job (previous owner) and too weak and was bending
So the gearbox company disconnected the cable from the bracket and told me I can drive as is, but without...
I am in Cape Town - do I really need permission from ITAC to import spares for my gearbox?
I apparently need pump bushings and a set of bands
The work is being done by Sparklight Gearbox repairs in Cape Town and they are positive it is a 65 not a 35
They have been trying to source parts...
Hi
Could you please recommend a reliable supplier that will ship spares for a BW65, at a reasonable price, to South Africa
(For and old Range Rover)
Thanks
William
