    I'd also check to see if the wiring is shorting anywhere, and the fuse sizes.

    all estates were conversions Matthew, unfortunately rust proofing wasn't thought of as an issue when they were done, and given the names that did the conversions (panel craft, HR Owen) the quality of the work was very very poor. almost as if they had used the cars as training for apprentices...

    MPG now it's getting a bit chilly

    John have a run down to halfords, I managed to get a compressor that runs of ciggy lighter there, with built in digital gauge for £22. as its all automatic you just plug it into giggy lighter, set the pressure conect to the tyre, and flick a switch, retire to somewhere warm, it inflates the tyre...

    Diesel inside the tank - what will happen?

    it will be smokey for one, not sure of long term effects though, diesel is a heavy oil so may sink to bottom of tank. If it was petrol in diesel it would be big problem as it destroys the injectors (I know this from personal experiance after someone else put petrol in diesel work van)
