    Last off the line ??

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are not Member States of the European Union and are not part of the UK Member State. I understand that taxes are levied on cars entering the EU from these locations if they have not previously been registered in an EU member state, except where transfer of...

Brake light switch - who's fitted a pedal switch?

I did indeed change to a mechanical switch operated off the brake pedal. I got the switch from Holden UK (http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproducts ... t+Switches). My car is away until the end of January being straightened properly this time after my 2005 head-on collision with a Renault Clio...

Front spring clamps - Front spring clamps

I desperately need to borrow or buy a set of original Rover P6 front spring clamps. Has anybody got a set that they could lend or sell? If you know of a set that might be available I'd very much appreciate being put in touch with the owner. Hopefully..... John Larkin

    Relief  :-)

Welcome back indeed! I discovered during the absence of the forum that it was my main attraction to the site. I am curious about the reason for its temporary closure, and I am looking forward to reading why. I assume that something was said or a theme was developing on the forum that was...

    Air Conditioning

I have just finished rebuilding an original Rover P6 air conditioning box, and it's a challenge. I will be fitting it to my 1974 P6B within the next few weeks. I hope to get the entire installation finished before Spring 2008. I am using parts from a scrapped VIP. The AC box came from a...

Body jig - Carbench Mk 2

I need to hire all of the jig brackets for a Carbench Mk 2 to repair a 1974 P6V8 base unit after a frontal shunt. Can anybody tell me where I can hire these? I live in Dublin, but I'm will to collect and return to the UK, ideally within 150 miles driving distance of Holyhead, but any distance...

Paint ban --- appears not! - EU

The report covered just under 2 million historic vehicles, 78% of which are worth less than €15,000 (about £10,000), and 16% of which were worth between that and €35,000 (about £24,000), with 6% of vehicles above that value. I think that the FIVA report is very fair representation of classic...

Paint ban --- appears not! - EU

FIVA (Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens) have recently published an interesting report on the scale (i.e votes in politician-speak) of the historic vehicle movement in the EU. I quote one section from the FIVA report:- By working in conjunction with the EU, FIVA’s work has resulted...

    15" Minilites

The Denovo wheel carried 205/65 section tyres I believe. Has anybody got a Denovo wheel that they can measure? I think that they were a metric diameter (375mm); it would be helpful to know what the rim width and backspacing measurements were, and then the offset would be easy to calculate.

Magnum 500 wheels - Bolt pattern?

Try buying H rated tyres in the correct width for 14" wheels. I have my car to drive, not to look at. I prefer to be safe than admired.

Magnum 500 wheels - Bolt pattern?

There are some lovely alloy and steel wheels available, but few with the correct wheel stud PCD (5"x5) and rim width & offset. Cragar had lovely Magnum wheels in 4.5"x5 and 5.5"x5 stud pattern, but they told me that I would have to buy "a trainload" of them if I wanted them in 5"x5.

    Fuse box - Replacing

I see what you mean. I have a problem with power supply to the fuse for my heater fan motor. Current is supplied to the adjacent fuse head (wiper motor) and is delivered to the heater motor fuse head by a copper bridge which has developed a crack. There is a high resistance through the bridge...

    Fuse box - Replacing

I need to replace the fuse block in my 1974 3500. The repair and operations manual just says to disconnect the connections at the fuse block, but I cannot see how to do this. They do not appear to pull off, although I suspect that they are supposed to, but I am afraid of causing damage if I...

National Mobile Windscreens http://www.mobilewindscreens.co.uk/ can supply and fit new Pilkington Glass laminated front windscreens for the P6 ex-stock. Their price is significantly less than I was recently charged by a Rover specialist.

    Hydraulic Brake Switch problem

I change my brake fluid annually. I never saw anything blocking the orifice. I think that I replaced the brake switch once only between 1986 and 2000 (about 150,000 miles) and maybe up to fifteen times since 2000 (about 30,000 miles).
