Ok. Starter motor has died on my 75 S2 V8. Engine is 1968 block. shopping around I have been told that all the Rover V8 starters are the same. I have been offered a cheap Range rover/landover starter. Does this fit the P6 or are the mountings, bendix different.

I Agree with Bluman. Sounds like a dodgy Solenoid. I too had the same problem on my 3500. BTW the solenoids on the 2000 starter was the same as the 3500 (at least they are on the series 2) so they are interchangable.
