Thanks Chaps, Can I leave the ballast resistor as is and just run another 12v supply from the washer bottle or does it have to be bypassed or eliminated?? RT.

    Running issues!!

Hi again, Have got everything together for a more extensive refresh of my ignition and fuel systems. New electronic distributor (ex: SimonBBC). New Lucas 17ACR 45amp. alternator. Fully rebuilt, rebushed carbs. Before I start the fitting I have two questions: The new alternator comes with a...

    Running issues!!

Hi again, Have checked timing again and it looks good. Sparking on all cylinders. Tried the original cleaned carbs and now worse than ever. Backfiring through carbs and exhaust, zero power, no idle/running without choke. What could have changed so radically?? RT.

Thanks folks. When I said "vacuum advance" is redundant I of course meant the dwell angle adjust!! My apologies. RT.

The paradox of the rear decker seal....

Hi Ron, I briefly considered the idea that they have been incorrectly "extruded", but surely they would just take a copy of the original seal and manufacture accordingly. I have thrown off a couple of E-mails to the supplier (who shall remain nameless :? ) but funnily enough I have yet to...

The paradox of the rear decker seal....

Greetings again all, Here is a real brain blitzer. Had a reasonable rear decker seal on Winston (Rover No.1) but despite several efforts never got it to sit 100% true. It always had some loss of contact with the rear window. So I obtained another one off the 'Bay and decided to fit it to...

    Help please!!

Not sure Dave. Obviously not connected to the problem but will require further investigation. One of the hoses on the charcoal canister was loose, maybe the cause but will wait and see. RT.
