Hello - can anyone advise a battery make & model reference that will properly fit in the plastic battery box in the boot of my 1971 2000TC
My local factor was very helpfull a few years ago but it still needed a hacksaw, vaseline and a big mallet to get it to fit.
And now its proving a bit of a...
To remove a jammed threaded stud.
1) screw on two nuts , turn them in opposite directions until they lock very tightly together and then use the rear most nut to unscrew the stud. Thicker nuts work best as they have more thread.
2) Buy a tool - stud extractors are not expensive - they...

According to the parts manual for the 2000TC , the oil cooler was an optional extra - comprising a U shaped finned unit which was separate to the radiator - this was connected using two long hoses - one to the block and one to the oil pump housing - replacing one of the existing two steel...

Perhaps this sounds obvious but have you checked that when the accelerator is flat to the floor - that the throttle butterfly is wide open at the carb . It is not the most precise linkage in the world and if there is any slack you wont achieve full throttle.

You could use a Zinc Galvanising Spray - available in aerosol cans - quite expensive but has worked extremely well on my door bottoms which were badly thinnned with rust. Due to the high zinc content of these sprays , the electrochemical protection is extremely effective and long lasting. As...
I have recently switched from LRP to Shell Optimax for my 2000TC 10.1 CR .
I can report that it definitely improves the performance especially on long steep uphill climbs and under hard acceleration where it would previously tend to knock And I have managed to use the full recommended static...

I am not sure which year or model you have but you might like to check the following especially after a rebuild.
If you have a ballasted coil (works at 6V) - will have two leads to the +ve terminal.
There should be one wire which runs from the starter motor solenoid to the coil - this allows...
Hi Peter
It sounds as though your fan belt may be a bit slack - you may be turning the fan but unless the belt grips and turns the bottom pulley (crankshaft) then the points wont open & close.
Check the belt tension and to make life easier take the spark plugs out so you are not turning the...
Before you condemn the gearbox, lift the transmission tunnel carpet & underfelt on the drivers side, remove the large round rubber gasket and shine a torch in the hole. (access to reverse light switch)
You should now be able to see the vertical selector finger which locates in the selector...
