Just to keep those who were interested the car passed it's MOT last week under my watchful eye this time, just to make sure they jacked it up correctly. So I am now back running around Edinburgh.

After refitting them it does not appear to have shims, this was the good side ( O/S) the nearside one was more difficult to refit. I am sure Rover would not have approved the method in the manual but the end result was OK by me. :)

It is not the dreaded tin worm, they have just jumped out of the top mounting. I hope to be under the car within the next few days so I will get a photo posted ASAP. Richard I had the car up on a ramp today to see for myself and the springs look original as do the shocks. They appear to have shifted rear ward and come out of the reccess in the body. Idid check for any marks for evidence of jacking in the wrong place but can see none.

Harvey I was unfortunate and had to leave the car with them I as you say cannot think how it happened and was trying to find out if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them.

I have just had the P6 for an MOT, on going to collect it they told me the rear springs were out of there mountings. Does anybody know of this happening, my feeling is they tried to jack it up using the di dion tube and this has caused the problem. I would welcome any input re this as if they...

I fitted the aldon one to my p6 and it combats the wear in the distributor quite well.

I purchased a P6 in May which had a conversion done by a leading electics company a few months previous, it is a pity they forgot to check if the pulleys wer lined up.
