My bellhousing is leaking engine oil so I’d like to replace the rear crank seal. I did this job on my previous P6 but that was easier as the engine was out and receiving a full rebuild. my first question is whether my car will have a rope or a lip seal? It’s a 1974 V8 manual. My second question is whats the best way forward for replacing each seal type? Gearbox off I’m assuming. Am I better to take the crank out (I know the rope seal can be a pig with the crank in pace). Any tips are much appreciated!
