Yorkshire Rover Club

Who are we? We are a group of classic Rover owners who meet in order to share our love of these fine motor vehicles. As our name suggests we are primarily a Rover club, but we do also welcome owners of any classic cars. Where do we meet? We usually meet at 8.00pm on the first Monday of every month (unless it is a bank holiday) at: Horbury Working Menʼs Club, Cluntergate, Horbury,Wakefield WF4 5DB. Telephone 01924 272 358. Cluntergate is just off the A642 (the WMC is 100 yards up on the left). We usually have a couple of meetings every year elsewhere so it’s worth checking before you travel. How many members does YRC have? We currently have just over fifty members. We compile a members list each February which is distributed to all members. This enables you to identify other member’s cars that you might see at rallies etc. – it will also allow you to contact other members with the same model of Rover, if you need help etc. It is also useful if we are planning to meet up for runs, or travelling in convoy to events etc. What type of Rovers are covered by the YRC? We welcome anybody who owns a Rover the type, model, condition, colour or year is immaterial. Current YRC members have cars from just about every era – pre war, P2, P4, P5 & P6. We also have in our ranks Sd1s, 214/216s, a Metro & some modern 75s. There are even some members with cars from other manufacturers. What is the history of the YRC? The Yorkshire Rover Club was formed in 2006, with the combination of several Yorkshire based Rover clubs. Incorporating the Yorkshire branches of the P6 Rover Owners Club, the Rover P5 Club, the Rover P4 Drivers Guild & the Rover Sports Register, this was the ideal way of bringing together fellow Rover clubs who otherwise wouldn’t have sufficient members to be able to hold monthly meetings or events.
