You're never alone in a P6....

Went over to the Cotswolds today to pick up a Zircon Blue 1972 3500 auto which I bought a few weeks ago and hadn't had the chance to return and retrieve.

No sooner had I picked up the car and gingerly set off for the 110 miles back home (the car hadn't left the village where it lived in years, let alone driven the distance I was about to do in it) do I hear a hooting from behind, and there's a Cameron Green 3500S, driven by a very enthusiastic gent from nearby. We pulled over for a chat - he was so enthusiastic I had to cut him short after about 30 minutes as I had to press on home. Lovely car - had been restored in the past by JP Restorations, and looked superb.

The blue V8 made it back with considerable aplomb, just a few jobs to do and it'll be off to a new owner. Will make a great starter P6, unusually for an early 1972 car it has power steering.

I think I recognise that Cameron green 'S'. I believe it was for sale up near Blackpool fairly recently.
Nice to know it went to such an enthusiastic new owner!

That would tie in. The guy I spoke to apparently paid £1750 for it, a paltry sum (although his engine appeared to be very tired, almost zero oil pressure).

Sounds like he paid the full asking price then, quite rightly so really as it did seem cheap.
It had done over 195k miles though, so could well be due a little engine work.

Christ....195k - no wonder it did appear a little tired - there was almost no oil pressure.

You bought it Nick?
Just outside Tewkesbury!"Kemerton".?
Thats the one with rust on the bulkhead around both the front top suspension mounts, and various other places!
I walked away from that,it was a nice drive, but with the bulkhead rust I saw and what else could be hidden in that area,in my opinion dangerous to drive!
Remember a previous forum members collapsing front suspension!!
Elderly couple owned for 13yrs and they had a lady to drive them!
Not exactly immaculate in/out as described!

I got it for a very reasonable sum indeed Mr. Pilkie. It's not THAT rotten. Now has a year's MOT.
