Wiring loom help please - no power to coil and mystery hot wire

There may of been some electrical fault years ago (when the car was still valuable) that required a replacement, newer spec harness. I've run across that a few times, though never in a Rover.

I've never seen it on a P6, although I'm sure it happened, but as for Rover in general, during my time at the Main Stealer the electrician fitted loads of new looms under warranty to SD1s after the looms were fitted jammed behind the heater unit at the factory.

Well, problem fixed and the Beast LIVES!! After over a decade of hibernation there's fire in the belly again. Just thought you'd like to know!!

Well I'm guessing there was an earth in the 12v power supply lead from the starter.I'm also guessing this is why it was disconnected when I first got the car. As it wasn't starting I reconnected it and that's when I had issues!! Tracked the starting problem down to a broken wire in the dizzy, left only the 9v supply wire on and it fired right up. Luckily in QLD I don't think the 12v supply will ever be needed, so it's just staying disconnected for now. :)
