Wipers - Can you change later for early type - Guess who broke his toy....

OK then....

I have checked the workshop manual and all is NOT clear!

My latest 1965 car has decided to shed its wipers - we get a lot of rain in Wales. They slowed down and then decided they have had enough. No problems thinks me rip the system off a spare car and fit that.

The 1965 car has the wiper motor on the near side and works by cable. The later car I have has the motor on the drivers side and works by rods...

Can I change the whole lot over? Do I need a midget or small child with an extra joint in their arms to get in there?

Alternatively why did the bloody thing slow down and stop in the first place! I have checked just about everything including taking the top off the motor and peering in and poking it with a stick....

PLEASE help....I can not use my 1965 toy and my six wheel Land Rover is not yet ready. However I have just bought a Leyland 'Threepenny Bit' Lorry so at least I can hit that with spanners....

Hey!

That was easy!....NOT!!!!

I just converted the little bugger to the later wiper system.
I now have the only P6 in the world with TWO wiper motors under the bonnet - It got dark so I left the old one in...

If anyone wants a wiper rack changing I know how to do it now!

A little late to be of use I know, but I've found that the wiper gearbox can dry out, giving intermitent operation and eventually seizing up altogether.

Pull it out, strip down and clean, regrease using KopperKote or something and all should be sweet. No noise and quicker operation to boot.
