To All White Rose Region Members
(thats mostly anybody in the Yorkshire area)

Over the past 12 months we have seen a steady decline in members attending our regional meetings. From a regular 20+ down to 6 or so.

As many of you are aware, we run a very popular rally at Lotheron Hall usually in August, which is now in its 14th year.

To run the Lotherton rally we need people !, we managed last year with around 10... but only just !

We are also aware that other rover clubs in our area are experiencing similar problems, and to this end we were approached by the local P4 and P5 clubs to possibly join forces and have a combined P4,5,6 meeting. (Each club remaining seperate in entity)

This would give us more attendees to regular meetings, and more "bodies" to help with rallies.

Several members of our region attended a combined meeting on Tues 9th March with other members of the P4 and P5 clubs, to get a feeling for the atmosphere and to see how we could help each other.

Although the original idea was for the 3 clubs to "pitch in" to help out with each others rallies, it was suggested (by one or two non-P6 members) that we should instead hold a combined "All Rover" rally, effectively instead of usual P6 White Rose Lotherton Rally (although it would be on the same date at the same venue), the suggestion being to make it a much bigger, professional show, with additional attractions etc etc...

This leads me to the point of this forum topic..... (at last)

I would like all your opinions (possitive and negative) on the two issues raised here :

1. A combined P4, P5, P6 regular meeting, replacing the current P6 White Rose Region meeting.

2. The replacement of the usual White Rose Lotherton Hall Rally, with a more commercial "All Rover" rally, to be held at the same venue.

Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Richard,

I think the joint meets are a good way to go.

Our meeting in the west of scotland is like that. We have P5, RSR (rover sports register), p6 & sd1 owners attending. some of those who come along have a mixture of cars like the RO who has a p2, p5b and p6b.

The RSR were in a simlar position to yourself with poor attendance and they were invited to our meetings. generally we have similar interests, how to fix body work, interiors etc.

I know whatever you region chose to do has nothing to do with me but I thought a comparison would be of interest.

Hi
I am a member of both the RSR and P6OC as well as NECPWA. NECPWA is a multimake Club and most of the York Branch own at least one Rover!
We meet at the Drovers Arms, Skipwith on the 2nd Thursday of the Month and anyone is welcome to join us at the meetings which start at 8pm. We organise road runs and the Sledmere House Rally. I think joint meetings are the way forward and our meetings have been joint with the RSR for some 15 years. I like the Lotherton Rally although I didn't attend last year due to my P6 being off the road. If you need help on the day I am sure we can press gang some of our members to help. Not sure about making the Rally more commercial though.
