A friend has a new Toyota corolla and had rear seat head rests fitted as an extra and had to remove them because it restricted rear vision so much.

No, rear vision barely affected at all. Good clear view between them and over the top of them.
To be honest I only bought them because the seam on top of one of the rear seats had started to come adrift as the material had perished in the sun.
The quote to get the seat reupholstered was massive - so the cheaper option was to buy the headrests which look very smart and cover up the unsightly bit!

my rear passenger side seat is showing the seems coming apart at the top too, I wonder if ?.....
but Ohh the postage costs, probably same as the item costs...
