hi All,

As the title suggests I have just fitted a Kenlowe fan, all done bar the permanent live, any suggestions where to pic this up without causing any bodgery with the wiring?

Need the car for the morning so any help would be great .

Many thanks

Richard

Hi
I took my mates feed from main battery/connection post under drivers side carpet, separate inline fuse is a must when doing this.

Hi, as Clive says, it's imperative to fuse it. Personally I'd try to take it from the input to the fuse box, just so anybody looking at the car in future would find it easy to trace, but that's secondary really.

Hi chaps
The only reason i use this main terminal post is that a kenlowe fan draws a fair amount
of current and knowing that the series 2 fuse box can be a bit unrealiable at times i wouldnt want to risk it,but thats just me.

Hi
You can pick up power from alternator but that may require cut/splicing output wire.
On 4 cylinder cars may not be to easy to get to.
Me being a fussy chap when i have added any extra wiring for accesories have tried to make it look factory fitted, unclipping main harness /strip old insulation tape, add new loom and retape.
Only down side, can take ages to do:)

I ended up putting a 'piggy back' spade connector on the interior light (I assume) relay in the drivers side glovebox as a temporary measure as it had a permanent live

That doesn't sound like a good ideal. The interior lighting is only an amp or so. And I don't think it has a relay....

No, no, no! As Peter says, the wiring will NOT take that load.

And, as standard, the only relays in the glovebox are for the indicators and hazards.

Use the alternator or battery post as recommended above.

Do you have a wiring diagram?

Effectively the same as the alternator. All there is is a thick cable between the two. And with a late 2200SC the battery is possibly in the boot too.
