Where best to mount a fire extinguisher?

With reference to my recent fuel-hose and carburetor issues, what would you think is the best place to mount a fire-extinguisher without robbing too much of the already limited space?

Alternatively, just carry it in the boot?

I carry a full size industrial one when I am out in the boot.
If that doesn't put out the fire nothing will.
Clive.

Like Clive i have a proper one in the boot, and remember to leave the boot unlocked when i am on the road.

I use a miniature fire extinguisher which I keep in the glovebox beneath the steering wheel. Its called a Blowy . See the attached video. Locally these are becoming popular with the boating fraternity.

Back in the day I had one mounted on the tread plate, driver's side. I can't recall the size now but suspect it wasn't huge. I can see now, that some people would find it getting in the way but I never did , nor did the next two owners, both of whom I knew.

Anyone who opens a car bonnet when there is a fire going on under it is an idiot. The rush of fresh oxygen will feed the fire. Pulling the release and squirting the extinguisher through the gap is the way to put it out.

That's a great addition for the glove-box, but where can I buy one, did a google and nothing came up?

Brilliant! Would buy one today BUT it is $24.99 to buy . . . and $99 to post to England according to their website!!!

What.... Check again - there is an option for USPS priority mail which should be the cheapest - it's in the middle of all the other options they list.

Wow, I just used my old London postcode and got the same result as you . It's only $8.35 to me in California. Try emailing them and see if the can give you a manual quote????? Failing that, if there isn't anything closer and you want one you could have it sent to me and I'll send it US mail - or there are some members on the East Cost that might be able to held...

Thanks for your offer of help. I have two brothers on the east coast of America. Trouble is, with it being a fire extinguisher, maybe there are customs costs etc which bump the price up? Otherwise I could buy one and bring it back with me next time I visit them - though what the airport scanners would make of something like that in my suitcase I can’t imagine!

I mount mine on the RH side of the transmission tunnel. It doesn't get in the way there and is easily to hand should I need it. In a previous car I kept it in the boot, but I was involved in a head on collision and that large heavy object did a lot of damage. I would urge anybody not to keep it loose, clip it in somewhere securely.

The website for the Blowy manufacturer is the one below

http://www.firecom.it/

In the meantime I have written to the local (Malta) supplier to check whether he would consider shipping to the UK. I have also written to the company asking if they have a representative in the UK. Will let you all know of any outcome.

For the record I do not have any interest directly or indirectly to this product.

In the meantime I received the following from the local representative. Please feel free to contact directly.

Hello Richard,

Yes of course, only thing is that freight will be rather high due to goods
being sent as dangerous goods.

If you give me an idea of quantities and UK postal address, I will be able
to obtain a quotation for such to the UK and revert back to you.

Best regards,
