wheeler dealers

hi all, watched the new series with delorean and charger and wondered if they have ever done a rover p6 ,if so which series was it in?thanks rich

It wasn't the best advert for the P6, couple of incorrect details from the presenters as well just for a change.

It's not like we haven't already paid our license fee to watch it, wonder why it's blocked in the uk.

Technically, the licence fee pays for the BBC, not the commercial channels (ITV, Channel 4, etc)

It used to be shown on 4OD, a slightly longer piece of the P6 'article' than the one in that youtube showed.

It was giving advice about the V8's, some of which does NOT hold good for the 4-pots. (e.g. "15psi is fine, but your engine is tired" is definitely not true for the 4-pots)

It's Brewer I can't stand - he tries so hard to be a "geezer"
Ed China is supposed to be a skilled car builder - his labour always seems to be free in Brewer's projects
Amuses me how simple he makes it look to change a DeLorean rear crankshaft oil seal and a pinion seal on a V12 E type
He'd be able to do P6 rear pads with one hand tied behind his back

Much as I enjoy watching and having a good larf at things they do,I wouldn't like to buy one of the cars they've abused!

I like Wheeler Dealers, and so I think some of these comments are a bit harsh. Remember it is an entertainment programme for all viewers not just enthusiasts. It needs to be a bit 'glossy magazine' for it to be viable in the first place, Mind you I have noticed in all these restoration programs such as Camper Van Crisis, Beetle Crisis, A car is Born, An MG is Born, etc, etc, they never show how to fit brake pipes; it is usually new carpets or chrome trim!!!! During the thre years I have spent restoring my car, I have found WD quite inspiring to get on with it when I felt I was getting nowhere.

Simple conclusion...If you don't like it, don't watch it!

i guess thats my beef with it, the older programs are better, where he buys an unloved car for a few hundred quid, spends a little bit on needed work and then sells it on for a profit, thats ok, saw one earlier with a 230E merc.
recently i watched one where they bought a subaru impreza for about £3k, they spent about 1k on parts (including fitting a clutch which must be atleast a day for a trained mechanic!) and then sold it for about 4.1k...... they should atleast try to put down the labour costs on it!

however i was watching another brewer/china program (auto trader, or was it deals on wheels) and they both attempted to be more honest/informative.

Watched I once, saw the 'bodge it and scarper' techniques and never watched it again. It makes me blood boil knowing that they're going to make a complete badge of some of these timeless American classics, the charger especially. Grrrrrrrr!!

If you can suffer through the adverts, you might be able to watch Mike Brewer (or is it the other way around? I can't remember! )

The P6 is at the end of the second half, about 3/4 in.

I love how the salient points of the vehicle, and indeed the draw factors unique to the marque and compelling to the prospective buyer are, in the eyes of Mister Brewer, bolt-through wheel-trims, a petrol reserve tap, and ambla plastic upholstery. Thanks for selling it to us, Mike.....

Got to say, though. That almond 'S' in the workshop (ahem) 'inspection', was fabulous. Did you see those inner sills?!!

All in all, the elocution-taught-Northerner's take on the Citroen SM is far better....

I agree & I generally enjoy the program. It is entertaining (Fiat 500 breaking down in Italy made me laugh  ). I also wonder how much time there is off camera with undoing rusted fittings etc :?

A nice change from 'reality' shows...

Well done for finding this. A coconut for you, sir! :p

Thank you for finding that, Mike Brewer was just as annoying then as he is now, but the Rover bit was nice. What was the reserve 'key' about? Did I dream that bit? I cannot go back and check because the presenter really annoys me :x , I still remember him ruining the IOM TT reports.

Yes it was a key switch wasn't it. I suspect that was put in by a previous owner. Clever thought but a bit pointless really, as it would only function as a security device if you permanently had less that 1 1/4 gallons in your tank!

.....I suppose you could make it a security device if you blocked off the main feed pipe at the reserve, and only had the fuel coming through the reserve line. But then the reserve function would be lost, and, let's face it, you'd hide the key switch somewhere a bit less prominent!
