Wheeler Dealers Rover - spoiler alert

I don't know the schedule for WD in the UK so I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so... spoiler alert...

On this week's episode of WD, luverable cockerny rogue Mike travels to northern California, right to Mr. Oldblokes neck of the woods and visits a dealer in Sonoma County - his mission... to purchase a 1971 tobacco leaf NADA 3500S.

Regrettably, Mr "owd aht yer 'and" Brewer determined it was too much of a shed and, even for the lowly asking price of two bags he declines - instead he buys a Lancia Fulvia.

It wasn't a bad episode - I was just a bit sad that he chose the Lancia - I am only up the street from Mike and would gladly have given poor advice and helped with the odd hard to find part from my horde.

Oh well, perhaps another time.

Vaguely had heard about it. Currently have heard of two 2200TCs for sale in Napa county with Alaska plates. Was on craigslist SF last week, but I didn't get to it til today and the add isn't there. Maybe a link on Federal Rovers site from last week.

Okay, the 2000TC is only a half hour from me. Saw it last weekend. Not bad looking with a few issues (tired interior/paint) rebuilt head/Mcyls/tranny/dist. per seller. I have space limitations so the deal killer for me was the rusty '66 parts car stuffed with engine/body parts that seller insisted had to go with the '69....! Of course the seller saw my 3500S with new paint and interior and started thinking he oughta keep his and...? Pics here.'69 Rover 2000TC.jpeg Rover 2000TC.jpeg

You did well to avoid a Brewering IMHO
Most think he is full of something, and it's not cockney charm.

I'll defend Brewer, in terms of what they try and do, he was right to reject the Rover. There was $6k alone in the paint and trim in that car. Fine as a hobby vehicle but not as a fixer-upper and seller. Considering he made $15k on the Lancia (which is a very lovely car).

I don't want to hijack this thread, but has anyone seen 'Flipping Bangers' on the 'Blaze' channel?

It's like WD but without a budget ..... quite watchable though.

I've seen it. I tuned in thinking it was going to teach me the basics of cooking. I was sorely disappointed. One step up from "Classic car rescue", but only a small step..

When I first saw the Rover I had to look out the window to make sure that mine was still there and that "she" hadn't sneakily disposed of it ...

I did like the Lancia though.

I think WD is a little better nowadays with their cost analysis, although I think they often conveniently leave out prices for some of the work that gets done - and I do marvel at the prices they seem to pay for top quality paint work.

As for old Mike - in the past I may have been less than charitable about him myself but, when Edd left and he started getting death threats... I mean, he's just a guy on the telly! I am sure he's not a bad lad IRL.

Yep, though they are even more iffy on the cost analysis side than WD are! A couple of weeks ago they scrapped a car but were offered more than scrap by a guy who supposibly knew what he was doing because it was the "right thing to do"! No-one running a business would have turned down the offer in favour of a lesser one, or if they were that desperate why didn't they just break it?

Enjoyed the Metro one last week, though, that was a decent bargain and the gamble paid off.

I must say that I don't have any issues with Ant replacing Edd; they do skip over some things quickly, but I don't think it's any more than before.
