Well...............

petrol price increases and the expansion/ hardening of low emission zones are two storm clouds I see as a proper threat, losing road tax and mot exemptions wouldnt be so bad compared to that

Last weekend I got the car out the garage, topped up the PAS reservoir, turned the wheel from side to side and even ventured round the block, no loss of fluid!?!? How is that possible??

Ghost PAS fluid. I use it in mine. Wish I could get some ghost fluid for my auto trans.

I agree on both counts here. Your car does look superb, extremely purposeful.
And l'm also beginning to suspect that we should make as much hay as we can while the sun is still shining because those storm clouds are definitely gathering, especially for those of us in the cities. I don't think however that the classic fraternity will go gentle into that dark night.

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I’ll just keep checking it before I take it out. Had something similar a long time back with a Cortina Mk 4 2.0GL, went to a Rover garage (!) in Blackburn, got back to car to find it sitting in a pool of coolant, topped it up and it never lost any again, very strange.

Mick -I had a leak appearing at the power steer pump.
My immediate thought was seals and an expensive time-consuming job.
So went down the "top it up" route.
turned out to be a leak at the reservoir that travelled down the front chassis rail to drop off at the pump.!!!!
