I have a 1976 P6b 3500 auto. Recently have been advised to replace the alternator. New one arrived from repco and it has an internal voltage regulator. I’ve more or less figured out the new wiring for it, but cannot for the life of me find the old external regulator. I saw someone with a 1970 P6 post that their voltage regulator was in the passenger side glove box. Cannot find a voltage regulator in either glove box, or in the engine bay. I erroneously mistook the starter relay for the regular initially, then the car wouldn’t work at all . I can’t find any information about the location of this regulator in the original handbook, the Haynes manual, or online and I’m beginning to wonder if the previous owner removed the regulator altogether? The car is not in the best condition in the world but it does run ok, stalls very occasionally, engine runs pretty smooth 90% of the time. Not convinced that the regulator has been removed but am unsure where to look for it. Any help or advice appreciated.
