Vintrim P6 up for sale in NZ.

It is a Vintrim car. There was a feature on it in NZ Classic Car when it was built (Feb 94).
Interestingly, I recently sold some bits to a guy who has the red Vintrim car tucked up in his garage...

I have that very same issue in my archives, but as I recall (without digging it out) it only featured the red one. Do you know how many more Vintrims there are out there? They sound like a very effective and quite sensitive upgrade, more so than the Beecham Mk 2 Jags, where they're absolutely gutted and reimagined from the ground up.

This issue (Mar '92) did only feature the red car. I believe that was the first. The green one (on TM) was featured a couple of years later.

There is a Vintrim car in the Auckland Rover club too. It is a '69 2000TC with wire wheels. Arden green with a sandalwood interior and 5 speed Toyota gearbox. It is a bit rough though and the special interior was missing when the current owner rescued it. I don't know of any others.

hEY WARREN IF YOU HAVE A COPY OF THAT i WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A READ OF IT.

I have Daniel Young's "Rover P6B Anthology", full of just about everything you'd want to read about the P6B. Does anybody else have this fine compilation?

At least, it appears to be a Vintrim Rover going by the badge/sticker on the boot. And notice the seats? Probably all very nice, but I'm not sure I'd like to fork out $15K for it.

NZ15K? 19K? OK, that likely wouldn't buy 1/2 a Vintrim restoration now; but there are so many classic cars in that price range + too many decent examples of P6's still to be had for way less $$...

Like early Honda 750's; a great Classic. but too many survive for these ever to fall into the rare + collectible category

The unexpected penalty of a terrific product or just the "wrong" badge ?

Am I wrong in expecting an "as new" P6 for that sort of money? But looking at the photos, there are quite a few details that look less than perfect - the roof; the carpet over the gearbox tunnel; the stitching on the rear armrest; the paint on the inner wing. All minor and to be expected 6 years after the restoration perhaps, but they do make me wonder if the quality of work was all it could be.

That is a nice interior!! It is a pity that good quality leather, boxpleat interiors cannot be bought new. I love the wood too.

I have black boxpleat, which I would give 9/10, but it is hardy ambla. A concesion for condition over material. Also I have aftermarket "WOOD". I have to say that Vintrim wood is superb, what the car should have had in it from factory, like Jags did. A lovely inteior ... imagine it in black boxpleat with claret wool carpets and all that walnut ...
