Saw this and I must say that whilst I hate BMW for a multitude of reasons I could see myself driving (and enjoying) this

I suspect it must be a mid life crisis thing (2nd time around for it) and that bonnet length.... could be a good penis extension..... sad but true I can see why a lot of men buy these as opposed to the Porsch and Audio offerings which are clearly hair dresser cars. Just a shame it's an auto, I suspect they must be a ZFhp22.

mentioned my desire of this to my gf and she found this for me to look at, nice but doesn't really have the whole mucho thing going on for it.

I've driven an SLK, and I was quite disappointed. They also rust alarmingly, though I imagine that's less of a problem for you than it is here. Z3s aren't that great either, as a driver's car; certainly one of BMW's poorer efforts. If you want a 90s/2000s convertible, the MX-5 would be my choice. Nothing else handles quite like one for the money, they're supremely reliable, and you can be very sore on them without any big problems. Not ideal for long runs, and not as refined as the Merc or BMW, but the moment you drive one on a backroad, the other two wouldn't know where to go!
If you want a Merc Cabrio, R129 SLs are very cheap, and much better made than the SLK.

+1 for MX5.
Our '90/91 eunos roadster has been a lot of fun for very little money.
Easy to work on, plenty of support from very dedicated owner forums.
They just don't get boring to drive, this was a deciding factor when taking the p6 off the road for a while :D
The exhaust sound with the top down is very satisfying 8)

Yes I know exactly what you are saying, but those cars dont have the same look at me I am tosser in a BMW value as the Z3
Certainly the MX5 is the sensible choice. low cost and fun but not the best for pulling chicks  (where did I put those gold neck chains )
I like to own cars that will become increasingly sort after and whilst I suspect the MX5 will as those of todays younger generation will yearn in middle age for an MX5 I suspect that the Z3 and Z4's will be the cars that will increase in value, that however is geographical observation probably this wouldn't hold true in the UK but here may in NZ.

There's a couple of nice TVR's down your way Graeme.
Much rortier than a Z3
And you will be staying in the rover stable .

Yes that's true but I am thinking that price makes an excellent reason to play with different cars, a TVR will cost an arm and a leg where as the Z3 is cheap as chips.
Very soon now I will be moving to China and don't want to be stuck with a hard to sell car such as a TVR with a high price tag, last thing I want is bath on the re-sell price if I am forced to sell in a hurry.
Were I to have cheap storage then I might consider however as t is I am looking sideways at the Rover thinking it might have to go as will the GTO.
