Valuation?

Can members tell me how I can have my car valued.

My car: "1974 3500 v8 automatic saloon".

The last valuation done about 4 years ago c/o my insurance company, was for £5,000. Since then, a lot of mechanical work has been done to the vehicle, both to the engine & steering/suspension.

Do I have to go back to my insurance company for a more up to date valuation, or do members know of somewhere else?

Thanks

Paul

If you have a classic car policy, you can put an agreed valuation on it yourself up to a certain limit.
I self valued my TR6 at £15k with a condition report and photo's,anything over that valuation they want you to get it valued by a club expert, and get it in writing.
You should be able to ammend the current valuation over the phone, but they may charge you an arrangement fee for doing it.
If you do not get an agreed value when you 1st insure it will be at market value, based on con 1,2,3 of a valuation guide.
So if it gets written off,you should get what it will cost to buy another car in the same condition.

Normally a valuation will last for 3yrs then they ask you to update it.
But you can update it at any renewal time if you wish.

The other option is to ask one of the clubs to value your car for you. The insurance companies will take that into account, and often prefer a third party valuation, rather than one carried out by the owner.
