vac advance points straight at the oil filter?

Hi All, has anyone else ever encounted the problem of not being able connect the vac advance at the distributor end because it points directly at the oil filter. With the drive dropped in as per the manual (line up with the two bolt holes)I can't get enough swing on the distributor to move it around 1 . The vac advance points directly at the oil filter.

Wondering if anyone else has ever encounted this?

I'm planning on moving the driver gear a few teeth clockwise.

Mine points towards the head more. I must of missed the original spot when I refitted it as previous position was halfway between head and oil filter.

Tried going anticlockwise 1 spot the other day. The side of the vac advance chamber fouled on the booster. Just thought, the ca was running before I pulled her down and I had previously done the timing (as per manual) when I replaced the sideplate. So their must be a solution. Will take another look.
