V8 into 4cyl car

I’m looking at pulling the 4 cyl out of my 72 TC2000 and putting a Rover V8 in.
Has anyone done this?
Any tips or tricks involved,I’ll use a LT77 out of a TR 8
Any help appreciated
Cheers,John

Don't do it. There was a reason why Rover had to redesign the front crossmember when they tried to slot a V8 in

It can be done, but it's not easy or overly safe

As Chris says, you may well compromise safety if you did a swap.

Also, I suspect the price difference between similar condition 4 & 8 cylinder cars will be far less than the cost (& anguish) of putting a V8 in a 4 pot car. The gearbox, propshaft & diff would need changing, as well of course as all the brakes. The engine bay would be a bit cramped too, unless you hacked some of the inner wing out, then there's the slam panel......

And the validity of insurance to consider & the resale value.......

How much of a project do you want?

As others have said, there's no reason that it can't be done but it's far from just changing the engine: in addition to the main things already mentioned you can add different rate springs/dampers, front suspension changes, wider wheels, different front hubs, front valance, most of the exhaust etc. etc..

Wider transmission tunnel (unless donor was an auto). Very different inner wings, chassis rails front cross member. If a Series I car you can add a different bonnet too.

Sorry to add more rain to your parade, but you’ll find finding a 3500 body a much cheaper and easier route.

You could supercharge your TC engine with and intercooled Mercedes unit...much cheaper and just as fast as a V8...

That sounds fun. Or go @sowen route and fit a turbocharged Saab 9000 engine, those can be safely tuned to 350+BHP (Although you'll want to fit a Jag diff to cope with the extra torque.
