V8 exhaust silencer

I have a P6 3500 and will soon be replacing exhausts. Has anyone done one with just one silencer at the back? What would be the drawbacks or advantages {apart from cost!) I don't mind the V8 soundtrack being a little louder. Any ideas would be welcome.

I did have two, but one had to go as it was in the way of the diff. To be honest, it's not much louder than it was with two.

I just had the back box. It was too loud for my liking, very anti social to the locals.... put the middle box back and happy bunny. Having said that, the 20 year old over the road approved the loud version!

I have a big bore exhaust from RPI installed in my 3500s. It is very loud compared to my other V8, a 3500 with standard SS exhaust. Inside the car it is not a problem on short trips, but I think it will be tiring on long journeys. Hopefully I will experience that that soon.

Think carefully, loud exhausts are very quickly tiring. And louder isn't necessarily better in terms of quality i.e. Cherry bombs.

son had larger bore pipes etc. fitted and was gold to trade hsiu car in for a quieter one! great for kids showing off and short runs. on long journeys it gets very tiring on nerves and ears. on my won rover have simply replaced front and middle with SS. from Wins. rear is a second hand part from another unknown car but fitted and suffices for now. burble note of a V8 and subdued power throb when pulling away has been commented on a few times as very. nice :) would not want louder myself as I think Rover is a refined car not a sports car as such.
