Upper Boot Lining

Hi Guys,

Work is going well on the car, old carpet out and new carpet on the way. I'm trying to tackle the upper boot lining, the original cardboard like material is now rubbish. Does anyone know where one can buy similar material to cut? I can't seem to find any. I've attached some photos of what I mean..

Thanks in advance!

I figured that was surplus material. Is it really heavy stuff then? I've not actually handled it. I thought about using that product when I refurbished my car, but decided it was too expensive, and that my limited funds needed to be better spent on other many and various old Rover bits'n'bobs.

Actually it's not that bad, but there's definitely weight to it. The box I got weighed about 20kg's and did the whole car and I had left over for the boot. I've not driven it yet but all the reviews say it's excellent for noise suppression. Just FYI for anyone looking at this thread in the future, I've attached pictures of the completed boot. The lining I used is a 3mm black PVC foam bought at the hardware store. It's stiffer than the usual millboard, looks good now will be interesting to see how it wears. The back of the boot, where the millboard had disintegrated, I replaced with a 6 mm soundproofing foam material, also from the hardware store. It looks awesome.

And some wire wheels peeking out from the corner, they look good on a P6 also.

That's how Rover should have done it. ;)

Can you clarify where you used the 3mm and 6mm stuff please? I have always been a bit disappointed with lid lining appearance and fixings, and the tank cover looks poor once its been removed and replaced a few times. The lifting of the lid lining between screws annoys me, so when I do it I will look into some sort of cover strip to hold the edge flat against the metal.
thanks

thought I saw replacements available somewhere ..possibly Rimmers ? but that was ages ago when I looked. agree card(millboard) list between screws and isn't best look. theres possibly some metal (aluminium?) edging we might find and crimp/glue to edges before fitting that might assist but not bothered doing that as well who checks out inside your boot even at car shows!

JR Wadhams have them, but I made my own from standard millboard bought from Woolies Trim. Looks practically identical to the original design, and hasn't bowed between the screws yet. I expect it will eventually.
