Unusual 1965 Series 1??

Restoration with donor panels. Documented by a magazine some years back.

Was common in the early 70s to make series 1 cars look like series 2. The trim is easy but the door handles would be a give away. The shape of the wheelarch at the front is also later.

Nice car but I would have gone for only one set of overriders.

I would never profess to be a rivet counter, but the interior and exterior door handles, wheel trims, waist mouldings, centre switchgear, engine breather, air cleaner, brake servo, brake reservoir, and oil filler cap are all from a series 2, but that is nowhere near enough to convince me it's not an early car. Things like that have had sixty years to get changed.

I'm not challenging its heritage but it is by far the most convincing series 2 lookalike I have seen, and odd not to change the bonnet and grille if you are going to go that far!!:)

Bonnet means altering the bonnet locking panel as well, and that's technically a base unit modification. Needs the vinyl 3/4s on it too.
