Trailing arm lower bush

Good morning all. I am after some help regarding the trailing arm lower bush. What is the best way to refit a new bush onto the arm, please? Many thanks in advance.

Normally, I burn out or cut out the rubber center of the old bush and use a hacksaw to slit the steel sleeve of the old bush (being careful not to knick the steel of the arm itself). Then you can fold in the sleeve and remove it. I then find some sockets that fit the outer edge of the new bush and the wall of the arm where the bush presses into. Using a bench vice I press the new bush into place making sure the rubber isn't getting pushed out of shape. IF you're not sure if your vice is up to the task you can remove the whole arm and take it to a local garage, normally they will replace the bush using their press for a few quid.

Many thanks for the advice. I had already removed the old one as it was totally shagged out. The original bolt had rusted into the bush and the only way to remove it was to knock the whole bush out. My son has told me he has a bearing removal/fitting tool so we will be using that. It will be the vice if the tool doesn't do the job! Lol. Thanks again. :)

Bung the bush in the freezer overnight before fitting it, you will find it a lot easier to fit.
