Torque settings

Hi anyone
I wonder if any of you have the torque settings and tightening order for a rover 60 head?
I am blessed with a rover 60 engine in my late 40s land rover , have finally stripped and am rebuilding it but can't find the information anywhere.
Many thanks Ali Russell

I am assuming its a P4 Rover 60 not a P3 one. From Rover workshop Manual :- Same torque as the 2 litre Land Rover but different order due to alloy head on the car vs iron on the LR

Thanks for coming back so quickly,
I assume it is from the p4 ,I have no history of the engine and the engine number doesn't seem to tie up with land rover numbers,
Any idea if I have to torque down by amounts before final setting ? Or just gradually round and and round till I get there.
Thanks Ali

If it has an alloy head it will be from a P4. If you post the engine number I can probably look it up for you . Good practise is to torque it down in increments, say three runs round . increasing each time.
If you join the LR Series one club forum , members there will have done this before . It was a common upgrade for competition motors. The alloy head with an SU carb breathes a lot better at the top end . My first land rover was a 1949 model and it had a 1955 Rover P4 60 engine in it which totally confused me. Back in the 1960's there was no internet & I ended writing to Rover to ask what it was . I still have the letter I got back explaining things.

Yes has alloy head and su carb.
Have had land rover since 1985 but put series 3 diesel in, now truly worn out thought it sensible to rebuild original engine while parts are available, and I still have the motivation,
The internet really is an amazing tool.
Thanks for your help Ali
